Oh boy have we been looking forward to this post. Let’s not waste any time and get right to it.
What’s changed since last week:
-Writing and art continue to do whatever it is they do
-Some scenes have moved into their second draft
As promised last week, starting now we’re going to start giving out proper details on what this project actually is. So, that being said:
What is Salty Tears?
To put it simply, Salty Tears is the story of Oliver, a college student in his second year, already on the verge of dropping out due to his poor performance. In a last-ditch attempt to save his GPA (and by extension, his scholarship money), he opts to get involved in one of two small courses. While shadowing the two classes, he finds himself in the middle of a tug-of-war between two girls and their attempts to recruit him for their on-campus clubs.
There’s a bit more to it, but that should give you a basic idea of where we’re actually going with the project. Anyway, as promised in the previous post, we’re going to start rolling out main character bios starting this week. Today you’re getting the first of five, Oliver Penn.

You know those endless “beta” stereotypes? Those that are so pathetic that you tell yourself that no one in the world can really be that miserable? Unfortunately for him, Oliver is the embodiment of almost all of those. He’s meek, quiet, and often has problems even forming a coherent sentence. His mind, on the other hand, is constantly on overdrive. That, combined with his pushover attitude, means he is constantly with odds at what he is thinking and what he actually ends up doing. His motivations are straight and true, if not selfish: pass his required classes however he can to keep his scholarships intact. Everything else takes second fiddle.
But what bands does he like?
