Hayley Curah Bio

Okay, we are FINALLY wrapping up character bios this week, so let’s hurry up and get this over with.

Changes over the past week:

-I’m not even going to bother mentioning the art and writing comment anymore

-Sprites have made some progress

-Our background artist has taken a four week vacation.

-Second drafts of scenes are going at a slow but steady-enough pace.

All in all, a busy week even if not all that productive.  With Curchack MIA for the next month, we’ll be focusing mostly on getting writing down since he was in charge of a small handful of things besides backgrounds as well.  That being said, I am leaving the rest of this post to our writers to finish up our primary character bios.

So who exactly is Hayley?  Technically speaking, she’s both an artist and a writer: a musician!  It’s Hayley’s dream to eventually put her talent to use in the real world and aspires to be a well-known musician one day - writing and performing musical pieces comes naturally to her.  Hayley loves the craft and has spent  years practicing and perfecting it.

Maybe a little too much, though; her social interactions prior to going to college were nearly non-existent.  She’s quiet, introverted and usually has trouble expressing herself outside of her music.  this proved troublesome for Hayley, as she didn’t always fit in with others her age.

And then, by a stroke of luck (or misfortune?) she happened to meet Caprice and Mekki.  They helped her break out of her shell a little and experience the world.  Even though Hayley’s still a bit wary of spending time on people instead of her hobby, she’s now more likely to go out rather than stay shut in her room all day producing music.

So when Oliver meets Hayley, she sees a bit of herself in him.  Even if it’s for different reasons, she knows what it’s like to not have a friend when you need one most.  Ultimately, Hayley wants to help him leap whatever obstacles come his way, much like she has with the help of Caprice and Mekki.

Izaac Cohen Bio

We’re on our second-to-last week of character bios, so let’s get the typical stuff out of the way and jump right into it.

What’s been done since last week:
-Writing, art, etc
-More scenes have entered second draft
-Two annoying bugs refuse to be squashed

Short and simple; admittedly we didn’t get too much done this week. That being said, let’s go ahead and get right into this week’s entry.

**Welcome to character bio four of five featuring… Izaac Cohen!

You all might have been wondering who the suave-looking guy was who announced our ‘April 13th’ blog - there hasn’t been much information released about him; this changes right now!

Many of you have probably had to live with someone whose personality is the complete opposite of your own. Honestly, it sucks. Well, we’re putting Oliver through the same thing! Izaac will be Oliver’s roommate for the year at college.**
**
**

**Remember the person from high school who got a ton of scholarships? The one who was dumb as bricks in class, but a fantastic athlete? That’d be Izaac. He’s got a free ride through college thanks to his athletic prowess.

Obviously, this has Oliver in a bad mood from the first time he meets him. ‘This ass gets to go slack his way through college because he’s a football player?’ For someone like Oliver, whose enrollment hangs in the balance, this seems like a slap in the face.

You’d imagine they’d never get along, right?

Izaac is the kind of person who wants to be friends with everyone. He isn’t content with someone disliking him; he wants to everyone to enjoy his company. Plus, most people have their own personal secrets. He might have more in common with the beta, nerd Oliver than even Oliver thinks.**
**
Izaac overall is a very positive person. He wants to see everyone around him happy and in good spirits and tries to help whoever he can whenever possible. Once Oliver gets past his initial disdain for Izaac, Oliver finds himself turning to him for advice pretty often.

Realistically, if there were anyone to convert a shut-in, submissive beta into an outgoing, sociable person-

You’d bet your damn money on the fact that it’d be Izaac.**

Caprice Shiften Bio

Alright, it’s June, which means we are OFFICIALLY two months late!  Time to celebrate with a blog post.

Progress over the past week:
-Writing, art, blah blah blah
-Continuing to find and iron out bugs and other small issues

Now that all of the formalities are out of the way, the rest of the blog post belongs to Mehkanik/ That Guy, who is writing the Caprice route.

Now over here, we have the third of our five character bios; Caprice Shiften.

Know how Caprice tends to have messy clothing and looks like she just rolled out of bed?  Well, there’s a reason for that.  After waking up, getting dressed prim and proper, she takes a look in the mirror and says one thing:

“DAMN GIRL, YOU LOOK GOOD!”

The resulting blast of volume almost always dishevels her clothing enough to attain that sloppy look she sports like a fashion statement.  Truthfully, she just doesn’t feel like fixing herself up all over again, so she acts the part to save face.

But on a serious note, Caprice is the epitome of unstoppable momentum in general.  She’s loud, boisterous and never stops for anything, especially when it comes to art.  Life to her is an endless chance to keep improving and motivate not only herself, but others around her as well.

In regards to those people around Caprice, this often means getting dragged into clubs and projects that the victim never agreed to.

Although pushy, a walking source of headaches for those sensitive to sound, perpetually and often inappropriately flippant, she always means well.  Provided they can see that, people tend to love her for it.

Mekki Clarke Bio

So, first off:  new blog layout!  Hopefully now the sidebar isn’t quite such a pain to read.  Now that that’s out of the way, let’s go ahead and jump right into it.

What happened this week?

-Art, writing, etc

-Fixed a handful of problems in our current build

-Updated the UI ever so slightly

-More scenes have entered second drafting

And that pretty much covers it.  Continuing with our character bios, tonight I’ll be turning the rest of the blog over to Mountaineer, who is writing the Mekki character and route.

Let’s get right into it then – the second of our five main characters. Today is Mekki Clarke!

So, what can I accomplish today?

There’s always that one person everyone knows who has an insane work ethic. You know, the one who stays up all night to get something done a week before it needs to be? That’s Mekki. It’d be a rare sight to come across someone more dedicated than her.
Though many people would probably say that she is ‘uptight,’ if she ever heard them say that she would kindly remind them to never, ever, ever judge a book by its cover. And then she would throw one at them.

While Mekki isn’t unreasonable, she has quite the stubborn attitude. So much so that she becomes a sort of immovable wall whenever she ends up in an argument with someone. She typically isn’t in the wrong when those disagreements arise. When she is incorrect, everyone around is treated to the sight of a very irritated and flustered Mekki; this usually involves lots of ‘hrmph-ing’ and stomping the ground in a huff.

Despite this adamant nature, Mekki is normally very calm and level-headed. She’s more than happy to help someone with writing in any way she can. You might have some trouble keeping up with what she is saying and writing at the same time, though.

What Is Salty Tears+Oliver Penn Bio

Oh boy have we been looking forward to this post.  Let’s not waste any time and get right to it.

What’s changed since last week:
-Writing and art continue to do whatever it is they do
-Some scenes have moved into their second draft

As promised last week, starting now we’re going to start giving out proper details on what this project actually is.  So, that being said:

What is Salty Tears?

To put it simply, Salty Tears is the story of Oliver, a college student in his second year, already on the verge of dropping out due to his poor performance.  In a last-ditch attempt to save his GPA (and by extension, his scholarship money), he opts to get involved in one of two small courses.  While shadowing the two classes, he finds himself in the middle of a tug-of-war between two girls and their attempts to recruit him for their on-campus clubs.

There’s a bit more to it, but that should give you a basic idea of where we’re actually going with the project.  Anyway, as promised in the previous post, we’re going to start rolling out main character bios starting this week.  Today you’re getting the first of five, Oliver Penn.

You know those endless “beta” stereotypes?  Those that are so pathetic that you tell yourself that no one in the world can really be that miserable? Unfortunately for him, Oliver is the embodiment of almost all of those.  He’s meek, quiet, and often has problems even forming a coherent sentence. His mind, on the other hand, is constantly on overdrive. That, combined with his pushover attitude, means he is constantly with odds at what he is thinking and what he actually ends up doing. His motivations are straight and true, if not selfish:  pass his required classes however he can to keep his scholarships intact.  Everything else takes second fiddle.
